About Amber

Short Version
Obviously, my name is Amber. I'm a California girl living in South Carolina. Met the Bear online in 2007 and risked it all to be with him. The gamble paid off and almost 3 years later we are still well on our way to the happily ever after. I'm working my way to domestic bliss, slowly but surely. Love Jesus, books, pretty pictures, talk radio, Lost, neutrals, the military, mirrored furniture, vanilla apple method products, Ikea, Canada and of course, my Bear.

Longer Version
So, you wanna hear the long drone, eh? Sure, why not? For all you curious folk, here's a little bit about me. Honestly, I'm not that interesting.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, various suburbs at various times. I was overly spoiled (thanks Mom!) and had a honest to goodness great childhood. Highlights that I actually remember are Christmas with way too many toys, birthdays with the Littlest Pet Shop, Baby Alive and New Kids on the Block comics. Bike rides at the marina, throwing up in the car on our way to the snow, the OJ Simpson verdict, the Gulf War (seeing the bombs on TV in night vision), picking out a black Cabbage Patch doll, throwing my red-headed doll down the stairs and being sure she was going to come alive and take revenge on me, meatloaf, burying several dead animals and watching both Home Alone and The Little Mermaid everyday.

When I was 14 I moved to Sacramento with my Dad and Stepmom. I'll spare you the homework wars. Met my best friend Niki, with whom I created more inside jokes than I can even list here. Went to Iowa in 1998, enjoyed seeing real Iowan corn fields. Enjoyed theatre classes and being weird. Started going to youth group at church (thank you Randi for dragging me, you changed my life), met Jesus. Cut off all my hair in a weird rebellion, graduated in 2000.

I then spent 2 years in Master's Commission, learning about God, myself and whatever it is you learn when sharing a 4 bedroom house with 11 girls. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Floundered for a year after that, trying to figure out what my purpose was.

Fell in love, fell out of love, moved a lot and fought to figure out who I was. Decided to leave it all behind in 2007, when I moved to Arizona. Hated my job, loved the state. Signed up for Eharmony on a whim, figuring it would be something fun to do. Met Joe the first day. Talked to him on the phone a week later, laying in my sister's bed on a trip back to California. I knew I wanted to be with him 2 weeks later. July 4, 2007, Joe asked me via chat to move to South Carolina to be with him, and not to wait until my lease was up. 20 days later I was driving through Texas with everything I owned. Crazy, in hindsight, thank you Lord that Joe was who I thought he was.

March of 2008, we moved into our townhouse and settled into life as it is now. Everyday I'm challenged, blessed and happy to be where I am. I miss my family, Trader Joe's, cows and Sephora. I love the pulled pork, the beach and the house prices! So, that, ladies and gents, is the story of my life! Not much, right?
